Vier artiesten op één fantastische hiphopsingle die klinkt alsof hij uit een andere melkwegstelsel hierheen is geflitst: “Rotary People”.
‘Cirqle & Cyqle feat. Deco Comprehension & DJ Grazzhoppa’ – dat is een hele mondvol, en op Grazzhoppa na valt er over deze artiesten niet zo veel informatie te vinden online. Geen probleem, dat houdt het mysterieus en dan kunnen we de volledige focus op de muziek leggen, want die is in dit geval uitstekend. De instrumentale muziek die producers Cirqle & Cyqle hier op “Rotary People” creëren is duister als bij Dr. Octagon, mysterieus en out there als Shabazz Palaces ten tijde van Black Up.
Vul dit nog aan met scratch- en samplewerk van DJ Grazzhoppa en vocals van MC Deco Comprehension. Zeggen dat dit een grote naam is, is de waarheid onrecht aandoen, maar het échte onrecht is net dat hij dat eigenlijk zou moeten zijn. Want wat de man ons hier tekstueel serveert getuigt van een volleerd talent en een acquired taste. Zijn flow is lijzig en duidelijk gearticuleerd – wat ook helpt met ingewikkelde rijmschema’s vol minder alledaagse sciencefictionteksten over communicatiestoringen, sabotage en zwaardzwaaiende aliens met zes armen: ‘Indicators state ‘no lifeforms present’ / though we moved in the form of a cloud based essence / all came together, shape of a sabre / that was held by a creature with six arms swangin’ / other five had crazy gadgets in them’. Nog eentje dan omdat ze zo leuk zijn: ‘program the data for the size of the spectre / cause this is more than your simple DNA-tester / we take the whole sample, leavin’ clothes in the dresser / erase from timeline, delete from existence / wipe the scene clean, no trace for forensics’. Dit is lyricism op Sheldon Cooper-niveau. Bazinga!
